Tennessee Producer Named Region II Vice President for Federation of State Beef Councils

Don Terry of Chester County was named Region II Federation Vice President during the annual Cattle Industry Convention in San Antonio, Texas. In this position, Don will represent the Federation of Southeastern States, including Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina on the Executive Board of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.

USDA invests $9 million in broadband for rural Tennessee communities

Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced on Feb. 14 the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has invested $9 million in four high-speed broadband infrastructure projects that will create or improve rural e-Connectivity for 3,744 rural households, 31 businesses, 41 farms, and a critical community facility in Tennessee. This is one of many funding announcements in the first round of USDA’s ReConnect Pilot Program investments.

The old folk saying, “In like a lamb, out like a lion” is often used to describe the tumultuous month of March. With spring officially arriving on the spring or vernal equinox on Thursday, March19, many are anxiously awaiting warmer weather. The sage words of wisdom indicate that if the month comes in like a lion, meaning wintry weather, it will go out like a lamb, implying more favorable, spring-type temperatures. But the month has been known to flip that saying with warmer days early and then ending in more frigid fashion.

Dalton selected for 2020 National 4-H Congress Design Team

Tennessee 4-H member Will Dalton is one of eight teens selected from across the nation to sit on the Design Team for the 100th National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Ga. This Design Team is responsible for planning and executing one of the largest national events 4-H has to offer, with attendance often exceeding 1,000 4-H members.
