May Dates Set for Farm Recovery Centers in East Tennessee for Farmers in Need

May 08, 2025

A bridge crumbling from the damage sustained in Hurricane Helene
UT Extension, in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, is spearheading an effort to host farm recovery centers in East Tennessee. There will be three different centers during the month of May where experts and agencies will be gathered in one place on a single day to provide a one-stop-shop opportunity for farmers who are still in need of assistance following Hurricane Helene.

The dates for the centers are:
May 8, 2025:
9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (EST)
Carter County Farm Bureau
301 North Lynn Ave.
Elizabethton, TN 37643

May 12, 2025:
1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (EST)
Unicoi County Farm Bureau
1001 North Main Ave.
Erwin, TN 37650

May 16, 2025:
1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (EST)
Cocke County Farm Bureau
250 Heritage Blvd.
Newport, TN 37821

The goal of these centers is to be informal in structure and designed as a series of stations instead of formal presentations. Each agency or group of experts will have their own table for farmers to move around and talk to folks who align with their needs and with someone who can provide answers to a lot of their questions. For more info about the centers, contact your local Extension agent.
