For weaned beef cattle. For increased rate of weight gain in growing cattle on pasture or in dry lot (stocker and feeder; beef replacement heifers). For improved feed efficiency in cattle fed in confinement for slaughter.
FEEDING DIRECTIONS FOR PASTURE CATTLE: During the first 5 days of feeding, cattle should receive 3.13 to 6.25 lb per head per day of Custom Beef 14-RUM. Following this adjustment period, feed at the rate of 3.13 to 12.50 lb per head per day to
provide not less than 50 nor more than 200 mg of Monensin per head per day while on pasture. Keep clean, fresh water available at all times.
FEEDING DIRECTIONS FOR CATTLE FED IN CONFINEMENT FOR SLAUGHTER: Feed continuously at the rate of 3.13 to 22.50 lb per head per day to provide 50 to 360 mg of Monensin per head per day along with adequate roughage. Keep clean, fresh water available at all times.
WARNING: A withdrawal time has not been established for pre-ruminating calves. Do not use in calves to be processed for veal.
CAUTION: Do not allow horses or other equines access to feed containing Monensin. Ingestion of Monensin by equines has been fatal. Monensin-medicated cattle feed is safe for use in cattle only. Consumption by unapproved species may result in toxic reactions. Do not exceed the levels of Monensin recommended in the feeding directions, as reduced average daily gains may result. If
feed refusals containing Monensin are fed to other groups of cattle, the concentration of Monensin in the refusals and the amount of refusals fed should be taken into consideration to prevent Monensin overdosing. Do not feed to sheep or other copper-sensitive animals.
On June 6 at 6:30 p.m., Layers and meat birds are raised for two different purposes, and their diet should reflect that. It’s important to understand the body composition and nutritional requirements of these birds in order to select the correct feed. In this month's Chick Talk, tune in as Grey Parks discusses best practices for feeding meat birds on a Facebook Premier!
