Ten Ways to Celebrate March
Mar 16, 2026
1. Visit your local Co-op to purchase your vegetable, flower, and herb seeds! You can get a head start on planting by placing a grow light in one room of your house and starting flats of seeds for your garden. Start collecting pots and planters to use in a container garden for the front porch. Local Co-ops throughout the state offer a great selection of flower seeds that will boast some of the most gorgeous varieties of blooms. Start thinking about your vegetable garden and which seeds you will need for the perfect garden. Look into buying raised garden beds. Our Co-ops offer a great selection of Tarter tubs that are perfect for growing plants off the ground.
2. March is the month of St. Patrick’s Day and all things fortune, gold, and luck! Try your luck at winning by inviting friends over for board games or a little corn hole fun. Make it a date night at home or an evening out with friends. Celebrate the month and warmer weather with dinner, conversation, and games.
3. Plan a St. Patrick’s Day dinner tablescape and invite your family members for a themed meal that celebrates Irish culture. Round up some good Irish recipes that are hearty and comforting. Try Guinness beef stew or something else traditional like shepherd’s pie, corned beef and cabbage, lamb stew, or Irish soda bread. Make it a special occasion with a green theme.
4. Celebrate March by going green in the kitchen and utilizing more green fruits, vegetables, and herbs. After a long winter of hearty soups and stews, make the switch to cleaner, brighter flavors. Top dishes with fresh herbs, and add sprigs of mint, basil, and rosemary to decorate or flavor food or drinks.
5. Make Rice Krispies Treats with Lucky Charms marshmallows for St. Patrick’s Day. If you search ‘lucky charms recipes’ on Pinterest, you’ll be amazed at all the recipes you can use this cereal with to make magical, delicious snacks.
6. Listen to Irish music playlists on Spotify this March. Enjoy soothing Celtic folk songs while you work.
7. Decorate for spring! Craft a new spring wreath for your front door. Or visit your local Co-op for seasonal décor ideas.
8. Start preparing your outdoor spaces for spring use. Sweep off your porch and patio, dust out the cobwebs, and touch up peeling paint. Rake out your garden beds and read up on which plants in your yard need a quick pruning. Be sure to check with your Co-op if you need new gardening tools or to replace any worn or damaged items you have. Then, take inventory of your patio furniture and decor to see if you need anything new or replacements for the warmer months ahead.
9. Review your spring-cleaning to-do list and start making your warm-weather project list. First up on the cleaning list can be washing the windows, wiping down the baseboards and trim, and doing a thorough vacuuming of upholstered furniture.
10. March 31st is World Backup Day! Backing up your electronic files is not a fun chore. Make your own luck and spend a couple of hours backing up your photos, invoices, and text documents.
