Co-ops raise $16,398.69 for local 4-H and FFA programs

Co-op customers at 28 member Co-ops helped the Tennessee Farmers Cooperative Foundation (TFCF) raise $16,398.69 in the organization’s Round ‘N Raise promotion that took place Sept. 29 through Oct. 14.

Customers at the participating member Co-ops were asked if they would like to “round up” their purchase tickets for the benefit of their local 4-H and FFA programs, and many answered with a resounding, “Yes.”

“Through these customers’ generosity and the efforts of the local Co-ops, these funds will be distributed to local 4-H and FFA programs to use at their discretion,” says Dawn Eaton, TFCF executive director. “We’re really pleased with the result of this first effort, and we look forward to continuing this campaign during special times in the coming year.”

The next event will be during the Co-op Christmas Sales Event, Dec. 1- 23.

“Christmas is about giving to others, so this will be a great time to ‘Round Up’ says Eaton.  “No doubt, we will exceed what we did in the first effort.”

Check with your local Co-op to determine if they are participating in the promotion. All proceeds from the campaign will go to the two organizations. For 4-H the funds will be used for local educational and leadership opportunities such as offsetting costs for a county day camp or attendance at Congress. FFA programs can use the dollars for one-time, non-recurring expenses for the local chapter such as greenhouse improvements, new classroom supplies, or animals for a livestock program.

The TFCF will not take any of the dollars raised, stresses Eaton.
