2024 Grain Conference Set for February 1 in West Tennessee

University of Tennessee Extension is hosting the 2024 West Tennessee Grain and Soybean Producers Conference on February 1 from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Dyer County Fairgrounds. The event is free to attend and open to the public, with registration beginning at 7:45 a.m.
Featuring the latest row crop research and evidence-based data from the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA), the conference includes educational sessions on topics such as sustainability, cover crops, soil health, market trends, planting date selection and more. Representatives from the Tennessee Soybean Promotion Board and the Tennessee Corn Promotional Council will also be onsite to provide updates on industry news and plans for the upcoming year. Participants will have the opportunity to network with these and other row crop experts from across West Tennessee.
Jake McNeal, corn and soybean Extension specialist at UTIA, says this is one of the most important events of the year for those seeking local agricultural data.
“Tennessee farmers work very hard to stay up to date on the latest information in order to ensure their production practices are both researched and reliable,” he says. “With the first weeks of planting season just around the corner, we want to make sure everyone leaves with the tools and information needed to have a successful year.”
Educational presentations start at 9:00 a.m. and take place throughout the day. Beginning at 8:00 a.m., the conference’s trade show, one of the largest in West Tennessee, will feature industry professionals from across the region sharing the latest technological and agricultural developments.
“We have a great lineup of speakers, sponsors and local representatives for this year’s conference,” says Lindsay Stephenson, one of the event coordinators and the county director of UT Extension Haywood County. “Whether you have a large scale, thousand-acre farm or just do it part time, this conference has something to offer. We encourage you to come out, learn, meet with others and enjoy a good meal.”
