SUMMARY:
At United Co-op, its agronomy division offers a comprehensive range of services to meet a wide range of agricultural needs. They are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Spreader Operator to join their team in Brownsville, TN. This role will be responsible for the accurate and safe application of agronomic products, including fertilizers, crop protection products, and other agronomic treatments, to customer fields. The ideal candidate will have general knowledge of operating sprayers and spreaders, will maintain equipment, and will work closely with the agronomy team to meet the needs of our farming customers. Spreader operators must comply with all safety regulations and state licensing requirements for chemical application.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license; Class B CDL preferred
- Prior experience operating spray rigs or fertilizer spreaders preferred
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform basic equipment maintenance
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Willingness to work seasonal hours, including early mornings and weekends as needed
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor agricultural environments
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Operates equipment to apply liquid and dry agronomy products to customer fields
- Mixes, loads, and transports products in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines
- Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on equipment; conducts basic repairs and maintenance
- Keeps detailed records of services performed, including products used, field conditions, and weather
- Communicates with customers and team members to ensure accurate and timely service
- Adheres strictly to all federal, state, and local regulations for chemical handling and application
- Assists with inventory control, product loading, and other agronomy department tasks as needed
- Provides exceptional customer service to members and other patrons of United Co-op
