SUMMARY:
Montgomery Farmers Co-op stands as a testament to decades of agricultural commitment and community service. Their agronomy teams offer a wide variety of products and solutions, including crop protection, crop nutrients, seed, custom application, and precision agricultural technology for spreading, sampling, and field management prescriptions. They are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custom Applicator to join their team. This role will be responsible for the accurate and safe application of agronomic products, including fertilizers, crop protection products, and other treatments, to customer fields. The ideal candidate will have a general knowledge of operating sprayers and spreaders, maintain equipment, and work closely with the agronomy team to meet the needs of our farming customers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred
- Prior experience operating spray rigs or fertilizer spreaders preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively to ensure proper delivery and application
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Willingness to work seasonal hours, including early mornings and weekends as needed
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor agricultural environments
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prepares and spreads custom applications of agronomy products on customers’ fields, including dry and/or liquid fertilizer, crop protectants, lime and other treatment products
- Mixes, loads, and transports products in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines
- Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on equipment; conducts basic repairs and maintenance
- Keeps detailed records of services performed, including products used, field conditions, and weather
- Communicates with customers and team members to ensure accurate and timely service
- Performs general maintenance and repair work to keep equipment in good operating condition
- Adheres strictly to all federal, state, and local regulations for chemical handling and application
- Assists with inventory control, product loading, and other agronomy department tasks as needed
- Provides exceptional customer service to members and other patrons of Montgomery Farmers Co-op
