JOB SUMMARY:

United Farm & Home Co-op is a farmer-owned cooperative with headquarters in Columbia, Tennessee. With 11 locations across central Tennessee, we serve over 5,000 farmer members, priding ourselves in service, knowledge, and dedication to the farmers, farm families, and communities we serve. We are seeking a highly motivated, career-oriented individual to join our team as an Agronomy Service Technician. This entry level position offers a competitive salary and benefits program, yet does not require a prior degree. Once joining our team, the right individual will earn an Agricultural Services Technician certificate through an apprenticeship program we have established with the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Willing to complete classes to earn an Agricultural Service Technician certificate from TCAT
  • High school diploma or GED

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Soil sample fields using various sampling processes and maintain field maps and reports
  • Scout customer fields for insects, disease, weeds and nutrition issues
  • Professional application of crop inputs to maximize crop performance
  • Perform operational activities relative to crop nutrients, seed, and crop protection products
  • Assist agronomist in processing and treating seed, managing and updating current and future product inventory, and providing input into improving operational practices
  • Ability to work extended hours in-season
