Pork producer delegate elections set for Aug. 8

Tennessee pork producer delegates will be elected Thursday, Aug. 8, to the 2020 National Pork Producers (Pork Act) Delegate Body. The vote will be held at 2:15 p.m. (CST) in the side lobby of the Cool Springs Marriott, located at 700 Cool Springs Blvd. in Franklin. All Tennessee pork producers are encouraged to attend the election, which will take place in conjunction with the Tennessee Pork Producers Association’s executive committee meeting.

Eligibility requirements for delegate and election participation include that the producer is
1) at least 18 years old; 
2) a resident of the state of Tennessee; and
3) up-to-date on have assessment payments.

Interested candidates are encouraged to bring a sales receipt in order to verify proof of sale and checkoff requirements for hogs sold in the individual’s name. These elected delegates will represent Tennessee at the 2020 National Pork Forum to be held March 4-6 in Kansas City, Mo. Extension agents and specialists from the University of Tennessee Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Department of Plant Sciences are offering educational workshops on garlic production for commercial producers across the state. The Tennessee Garlic Fest workshops begin in July and will include presentations on production and economic considerations and feature a panel discussion of producers of the specialty crop.

Tennessee Farmers Cooperative (TFC) proudly announces the first calendar contest for Tennessee FFA and 4-H members. TFC is looking for images that will be used in the 80th anniversary 2025 calendar for Tennessee Farmers Cooperative. As our calendars go to print early, photos are due on April 30. Calendars will be available at local Co-ops in the fall of 2024.
