The goal of TFC’s yearlong career training program is for participants to gain knowledge and experience under the direction of experienced personnel. This training is required for promotion to management and other career opportunities within the TFC organization. It includes exposure to, and performance of, duties and responsibilities in various aspects at TFC departmental and member Co-op levels as well as continuous education through classroom training, team building, and online training. Trainees will have opportunities to secure a full-time position with TFC or a member Co-op by interviewing for various openings as they become available.
College students have the opportunity to participate in a 12-week summer internship at TFC or a member cooperative. This paid internship provides both hands-on learning and classroom instruction.
TFC offers a total of 32 scholarships — each worth $2,000 — to qualified agriculture students at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, UT Martin, Tennessee Technological University, Middle Tennessee State University, Tennessee State University, and Austin Peay State University. Applicants must be from families of Co-op members and satisfy the requirements set up by TFC. Each university, through its scholarship selection committee, actually chooses the scholarship winners. College sophomores, juniors, and seniors should contact their respective university’s school of agriculture for application procedures.
