Taking mud to the mat

WeatherTech FloorLiners protect vehicle investment

On the farm, it’s a given that dirt, mud, and grass are going to accumulate on a farmer’s boots while performing daily duties. And more times than not, that person’s vehicle floor mats bear the brunt of this messy result.

But that’s not the case for Benton Tinker. Peek inside the Sevier County cattleman’s 2016 Ford F150 pickup, and there’s no indication whatsoever that he’s only minutes removed from tromping on muddy pasture to check on his and father Rob’s 100-head Angus herd. Both the driver’s and passenger’s side floors look as impeccably maintained as the exterior of the truck.

The secret? Benton’s truck floor is protected by WeatherTech FloorLiners, which are available at participating Co-op locations. His came from Sevier Farmers Cooperative as a Christmas gift from his parents.

Developed to be, as the Bolingbrook, Ill.-based company’s website claims, “the most advanced protection available today” and made from a patent pending High-Density Tri-Extruded rubber/plastic compound, WeatherTech Floor Liners accurately and completely line the interior carpet up the front, back, and even the sides of the vehicle’s footwell.

“I wouldn’t trade my WeatherTechs for anything,” says Benton, who works full time as a Farm Bureau Insurance agent in Sevierville. “Before I had the truck, I had a sports car and it had the FloorLiner in it, too. They’re the best money can buy because you can spill coffee or get mud, grease, or practically anything else on them and all you have to do is hose them down and whatever’s on there will roll right off.

“I’ll never own another vehicle without them.”

After going to, and entering the make, model, and year of his truck, Benton’s vehicle information was captured and WeatherTech FloorLiners made specifically for his vehicle were shown. Each FloorLiner is created from digital laser measurements to ensure a perfect fit.

“There are other companies who make floor mats, but what sets WeatherTech apart is the custom aspect,” says Paula Strelczyk, Operations Logistics/Wholesale Director for WeatherTech. “With a lot of other vendors, you have to cut or alter the mats. We make the FloorLiner to fit your vehicle precisely, whether it’s a truck, a regular passenger car, SUV, CUV, or practically anything else that’s on the road today.”

Paula points to Benton’s truck model, the F150, as an example of WeatherTech’s customization process.

“That truck has a regular cab, extended cab, crew cab, 4-wheel drive or 2-wheel drive, and optional floor shifters,” she explains. “You have to list the exact specifications of your F150 in order to get the FloorLiner that’s listed for your vehicle. It all comes down to safety — we want to make sure any and all products that are coming from WeatherTech to a consumer work in their vehicles and fit precisely.”

And every single FloorLiner, Paula proudly adds, is made in the good ol’ U.S. of A.

WeatherTech employs some 1,100 people at its Illinois campus, with buildings dedicated to manufacturing, injection molding, thermoforming, raw materials, a call center, and a factory retail store. Most WeatherTech products are sold through authorized dealers like participating Co-op stores.

“We want to do our part for the American economy,” says Paula. “We use American machinery and raw materials whenever we can to reinvest in our company and our company’s infrastructure. It’s been really impressive to see the continued growth of WeatherTech and the increasing popularity of our brand.”

This commitment to delivering high-quality, durable, and dependable FloorLiners — as well as a broad menu of other products for vehicles — is what keeps folks like Benton as loyal WeatherTech customers.

“I’ve recommended the FloorLiner to a lot of people,” he says. “My sister, Blair, has some in her car and loves them. It’s a short-term investment for a long-term solution to keep your vehicle clean. You’ll never have to buy another set of floor mats.”
