In downtown Camden, a mural on the side of the United States Pearl Company building proudly welcomes visitors to “Benton County, Pearl Capitol [sic] of the U.S.A.” Indeed, the only freshwater pearl culturing farm in the U.S. is located in the county at Birdsong Resort and Marina. The property is also home to the Tennessee River Freshwater Pearl Museum. To learn more, visit — Photo by Sarah Geyer

Located at 2183 Hills Creek Road in McMinnville, historic Church of Christ at St. Mary is named for the Maryland county from which the people who settled what is now part of Warren County came. Several Warren Farmers Cooperative members and employees have worshipped at St. Mary through the years. Among them are retired manager Gene Bess and his late wife, Mozelle, who retired as a bookkeeper at the Co-op; Larry Rhea, who’s now semi-retired but still works two days a week.
