That’s what you’ll find inside “Neighbor to Neighbor: Food favorites from Tennessee’s farms and families,” a new cookbook that celebrates the rural heritage of the people who have made the Farmers Co-op system in Tennessee the thriving, dynamic entity it is today.

This colorful, hardback book includes some 200 recipes from the “What’s cookin’?” column, a regular feature of Tennessee Farmers Cooperative’s membership magazine, the Tennessee Cooperator. The book also features profiles of six of the column’s loyal contributors who share how cooking has added flavor to their lives. Sections are devoted to appetizers and beverages, breads, soups and sandwiches, salads, main dishes, vegetables and side dishes, desserts, and holiday dishes.

Good country cooking is hard to beat, and the unique collection of culinary temptations in Co-op's "What's cookin'?" cookbook have long been favorites of farm folks across Tennessee and neighboring states. The book was compiled from recipes submitted by readers of the Tennessee Cooperator, Co-op’s membership publication, for the monthly “What’s cookin’?” column. This cookbook was originally published to celebrate Tennessee Farmers Cooperative's 50th anniversary in 1995, and has been reprinted as it appeared then to celebrate Co-op's 60th anniversary in 2005.
